The Lost Afternoon Tea Paradise

Antique Pasterrie had been disappeared for awhile from Lyndhurst Terrance and all of a sudden it has popped-up again! Walking down from Hollywood Road towards Gough Street, along this Mei Lun Street you'll find this afternoon tea paradise standing at your right hand side!
The new TEA ROOM...French style, cozy and comfortable like someone's living room.
Wide range of tea samples by this French brand "Theodor" for you to "test out". (FYI, they do serve "VITTORIA Coffee" for the tea set if you don't have much interest on tea)
Lately I have fallen in love with Indian tea, so any tea with a hint of this will attracted me. So this time I try the Chocolate chip chai...a hint of Indian and a hint of chocolate!
This is the tea card you'll need to purchase online before able to reserve a table at the tea room.
We have picked their signature hightea set, which includes the savory snacks and some sweets, and then tea or coffee. Really impressed with the spinach roll and the sausages roll. They have 2 sections for tea, we went for the 3pm-5:30pm and they'll close the tea room at 5:30pm sharp, so seize the chance to enjoy the moment with friends and the food. My Lovely New Cooking Utensil

I been wanted to get a new cooking pot to make tea at home, those with hand-making feel is my top priority as I like those mark all around the body of it. Out of my surprise I saw this when I passed by Shanghai Street! Almost 80% alike the one I want! Just that it's not in copper color (I know there is one and only one place in HK which still making the copper ones, but they don't make it in rounded shape like this one :P). What a happy shopping (and it's only hk$155 where a copper one is hk$900 and needa wait for a month, keekeekeee)!!! :D

Today just a little bit too cold & wet in HK!!!

Weather has been ups and downs recently, last week I thought summer was around and today I think I have gone to London?!! It has been so cold and wet today that I would have suddenly thought of having hotpot with family!!! When I flipping through the bizcard holder, I found this place which I had been wanna go try out for long long time! From the foto you can see the pot is a bit different, it has a "chimney" sticking out!!! It's kinda a traditional pot people will use in Beijing and mainly they have mutton rather than beef for hotpot. We have ordered half Sizhuen chilli soup base and the half we have just the normal soup base. The whole set (soup base with mutton, vegetables and fishballs) is only HK$249. You can order extra if you not feeling enough. The place is just cozy with few tables, so better make appointment on a cold day. 60 Wharf Road, North Point. (852) 2571-2226.

This is just an art piece: "Art Box"

Wow!! Am amazed by the collections on the wall and I thought this gal is a crazy collector on miniature car models~!!! After further exploration, I realized that this is actually an art piece handmade by a French artist and it's called "Art Box"! The artist will have to sit down there for 1.5 months and make every single bit of tiny little things by his own hand. You can custom made your "dream" by choosing the model of car, yr own number plate, also material for the box. This is definitely an ideal gift for all female when they have run out of idea of what to get for their beloved another half. There are 3 difference sizes available. Finished products will then be shipped over from Paris with certificate.
See this dirty piece of cloth hanging out from the window? This is just too cute!!! The artist is real thoughtful.
Close up of the "garage", I have a feeling that I have walked into a real garage! They look so real but imagine they are actually just tiny like 1cm long for a screw driver!!! I appreciate the time and effort he been devoting to his job!!! And I think French people really appreciate all kind of handmade things. Since every piece is unique, this is actually more valuable than a factory made item. If you would like to order one for your beloved ones, pls contact the HK distributor at (852) 2540-6868 for a preview of the Art Box at the showroom of Hong Kong distributor :)

A surprise at Wanchai today: Yukitei Ramen 幸亭拉麵

Spotted this 幸亭拉麵 in a small street of Wanchai (聯發街) , I had been wondering if I should go in and try coz there are so many "copied" ramen shop lately due to the trend, many of them are not so good and as you know, I can only have 2 quotas everyday, so i really want to make sure I can have high utility at both times, ie: I can have yummy food to keep me happy all day long. Finally i went inside and they have recommended their signature: black sesame soupbase! The soup smells really good! The pork has been seasoned and cooked very very very well!!! I nearly wanna order an extra portion of this pork but I think i should save this quota and try one of their snacks!
I have also ordered a 芋頭粟子可樂餅 (purple yam and chestnut croquette), it's surprisingly well match for these two things going together! The purple yam has been grounded well and so it's super soft! Am already planning for another visit and try their ramen with black truffle sauce!!! I better save an empty stomach next time before I go!
These 2 young men seems been putting a lot of effort and have passions on cooking! Hope they'll have more new taste and can keep up the work!! GABADE leh!!!! Address: 灣仔皇后大道東118號聯發街C2舖Mon - Sat: 13:00 - 23:00, Sun:12:00 - 22:00

My Bangkok Trip: Cooking Class @ Baipai

Friends have arranged a cooking class at Baipai this time. This is my first time to learn cooking at Bangkok. We have picked the afternoon section and this last for around 4 hrs. Depends on number of people, they can give a better deal if you go with a big group. With a group of 9 people, we had paid around baht2000 for this class per head. Total 4 dishes will be taught: papaya salad, deep fried spring roll, chicken in red curry and stir fried beef in chilli sauce.
First of all, we learnt how to make a red chili paste. Never know it's being grounded intensive with a mix of 2 types of chili. Depends on the chili level, you can put a little or more chili into the grounder.
After awhile, the paste will be ready for use.
The chili has been contributing to the sauce of this red curry dish!
Teacher is trying to teach us how to make the "substance" for putting inside the spring roll.
The sauce to go with spring rolls...we always just go get a ready made one from supermarket. Actually it's very easy to make...can be ready in 15mins!!!
Spring roll is being sealed with special "glue", ie: egg yoke!!!
Student trying to make 4 rolls by themselves (and they can get to eat them afterward :P)
Deep frying in process.
Ready!!! with some decor!!! Sorry mine looked a bit messy coz the shell was really cripsy!!!
Lastly we had made the papaya salad. I always wonder how they shred the papaya into such tiny snappy pieces! Now I know the special skill! :D

My Bangkok Trip: Thai Chai

This is my latest new favourite after the Bangkok trip! Thai Chai you can find anywhere at most thai food restaurant. I been trying a few at different spots and the one available at GreyHound Cafe is the best. They called it as Thai Tea Granita It taste super strong!!! Moreover, they have this innovative way to make the drink more interesting. Talking about GreyHound Cafe, originally it was just a fashion brand and then they started to develop the cafe side business. They have this concept of "Life is a journey, full of pictures, places, stories and good tasting recipes" which I can't agree anymore!!!
I have ordered a spagetti made in Thai style...it's actually chili with the taste of tom yum! Really impressive. Too bad the stomach has limited space, I can't get to try out more different food..."rumour" said their chicken wings is also very nice!!! Also I wish I can try out their Chinese Plum + Sprite Float! :P They now have a couple of outlets around in Bangkok, check out their website and find the one close by you next time! http://www.greyhoundcafe.co.th/main.php

My Bangkok Trip: Baan Klang Nam

Friends living at Bangkok has taken us to this place one time, we have totally fallen in love with it!!! Yes again! Frequent visiting "Baan Klang Nam" at the riverside (Chao Phraya river). With the ambiance which is very relaxing, plus natural breeze coming along non-stop (yes, it's all open without any air con, which is one of the main reason I like it there so much), almost all tables in there having a great view of the river life.
Tom yum soup, raw shrimp, pad thai are quite the must eat item...they all taste very authentic! People working there are friendly and smart. They do serve you on the spot and knowing when you'll need them. As for price, even though it has become quite a tourism spot, they haven't marked up so much, so that everyone can go try their food. From Siam to this outlet, it's only around Baht110 if traffic is smooth. http://www.baanklangnam.net/ 288 Soi 14 Rama III Road, Bangkok 10120 Tel.: +66 (0) 2292 2037, +66 (0) 2292 0175
