Macau is amazing --> Kafka

Being sent to Macau for 2 months work, 2 nites here everyday and I think I should make good use of this chance to eat around! A friend who living here has told me about a dessert place where the cakes/pasterrie always sold out quickly, so I researched and found it's actually very close to work my work place. The name of this place is KAFKA. They named it as this coz the shop is located on Plague Street, so they relate this to Kafka, the famous writer from Plague in 1930s immediately!
The owner of this place have super passion with desserts! She is also the the pastry chef of Kafka who went to Cordon Bleu Paris for professional training for 2 yrs. Every piece of dessert has been handmade with passion, so there are only limited supply everyday. Usually sold out by 4pm. So you better action quick!!!
Today I made my way there at lunch and saw this cake display full of her products!!! I like the way they name the cake, like a poem! I had picked the Tai Mahal dome cake, which is a mix taste of caramal and earl grey tea! The coffee they made is also a highlight I should mention! It really taste very different!!! I had this caramal latte and the coffee smells good and taste smooth! I should make a trip back there again before my job finishes!!! KAFKA Sweets & Gourmandise http://kafkasweets.com/ Rue de Braga No.152, Cotai, Macau/ 氹仔布拉格街152號. Tel: +853 2882 0086 (usually they too busy and wont pick up the call)

Modern Oxford by Opening Ceremony

It was 2007 when i saw this pair of modern oxford. I really felt excited and decided to go for it without 2nd thought (if they have my size)! It's totally special to me at that time, and I really wanna said thank you to the shoe buyer of that shop as he/she really had vision and taste!!! I hope he/she is doing well in his/her career and bringing us Hong Kong people more interesting shoes =D

Backstage is always more interesting than the real show (for me) =P

really like the rhythm when everyone is busy running around for the 20mins show, a lot of beautiful things will happen within this short period of time, creative mind hard-working!!!

This is really interesting...the making of a ball dress

...it's not easy at all, esp it's stitch by stitch handmade. Pls do respect designers as they bring beauty to life...to the world.

Madam Sixty Ate: a place for gastronomic narrative edible art!!!

Madam Sixty Ate, I have googled that it is a "Wanchai Whimsy"! It's a place making gastronomic narrative edible art! Actually it has been awhile I have been to this witty place. When I first stepped into Madam Sixty Ate, there is this library bar in front of me. I like the yellow arm seat very much, I wish I can have one at home!!! The whole setting of this bar/lounge is very ideal for a living room, cozy and chic! A perfect place for chill out after work!
The owner seems to be a witty person! From the paintings on the wall; to the design of the menu, I think the owner has really good sense of humor and these all gave me a grin on the face!
The bread is being homemade everyday, you can see the chef making the dough at the front counter, and then after awhile, fresh bakery smell pop out and there you go! They are ready!
Why i take a close up with a piece of normal bread? Actually am taking foto of the butter! It looks so common but actually it has a complicated taste...butter with a bit of garlic taste?! I wish I can finish the whole thing (yes the butter).
While I was waiting for my friends, I decided to order a glass of cocktail ( I really drink alcohol in early afternoon but the atmosphere is so relaxing that I think I should celebrate that I'm still breathing on that peaceful Saturday afternoon, and feeling grateful that such a restaurant has been arranged to be landed onto the earth!
The presentation of this "new age" food is really appetizing! the sauce (that patch of yellowish green thing) taste so light and it merged very well with the smoked salmon.
My friend had the pork belly, she told me that it tasted very light and cripsy (I should have asked her for a little bit to feel it!)
And then i went there again another time for lunch with another friend, we both ordered the steak sandwich and the cripsy onion ring has been really well done! Texture of the steak is soft, just that it's a bit big portion that I couldnt finish it all by myself (I feel so guilty for this!)
The dessert that one cant miss out! Actually when looking back at this foto, I have a thought of going back there tmr for this pancakes!!! All the above was my experience during brunch/lunch at Madam Sixty Ate so far. There dinner menu is also quite interesting! It's also a good place for drink at night outside at the balcony. Shop 8, 1/F, The Podium, J Senses, 60 Johnston Rd, Wan Chai, 2527 2558; www.madamsixtyate.com.hk. Daily noon-midnight.

Sakura...Sakura...Sakura!!!

Time for sakura again!!! This is the most important activity for me as it implies the start of a new page (to me). Thanks the weather been so nice (I do think sakura needs to have a bright blue sky as background!!!).
This place in Tokyo called Naka-Meguro. It's also a good place for seeing sakura...with a line of sakura trees planted along the Meguro river, and it's super nice when sakura is booming (i do think this is better place to see sakura than at Shinjuku Gyoen), probably the whole environment?! Quiet neighborhood, and along the riverside, there are little shops and cafe, good place to sit around and enjoy sakura with a cup of hot green tea.
Love this kind of lantern. They'll be around during sakura seasons and contributing the whole scene more classic and beautiful.

Teakha update

Long queue waiting...
Everytime i came into Teakha, I couldnt stop myself to take foto. This is the only place I want to take foto nonstop and every corner of this place really attracts me!
They have some new item! Too bad this is ready when I was about to leave....
This time I tried their coffee, taste very smooth indeed!

Papa's coin bag!!!

This is exactly the coin bag that my father used to have, but his was a leather one. I found this from Tokyo, which is being made by silicon nowadays! I like this design as you can see the coins clearly by toddling them out to the "tray"! This silicon version doesn't have any awful plastic smell which is very important (Japanese always good at taking away bad smell)! I've got one for my father! :D

I love to go to KINDERGARDEN!

Inside an alley at Tai Hang (35 Sun Chuen Street), there is a KINDERGARDEN. It's not a place for kids to go, but interior does give me some kiddy feeling. I do feel that a person with kiddy heart, he/she cant be so bad in personality base on logic?!! Owner has picked many cute pieces for her little world, range from interior decor to utensils. Interior of this cafe is real simple and warm (i like this kinda raw wood, very Japanese cafe feel). Am also very impressed with the wooden menu owner has made!
Along this alley which is full of garage, the outlook at Kindergarden really caught my attention! The big windows are so inviting that you'll go over and check it out! The first time I went there was a year ago (oh! exactly a year ago!), it's easier to beg for a seat at that time =P
I have ordered a teaset to share with my mum this time. Tea/Coffee are side order. I like the robot tea infuser as it looks like it's bathing in the cup! I couldnt stop burst out laughing when they put it onto the table!
This is the teaset for 2. Pre-order is a must!
Am really impressed with this piece of smoke salmon sandwich as it looks like a woman with 3 hair rollers on the head! Other then tea set, am also very impressed with this cheese toast. Presentation and taste both very nice, as good as those I had before at Tokyo.
Kindergarden only operates at "odd hours"...you have to try your luck on weekend to see if they open or not. Or maybe u should make a booking (2657-7562) as it's getting busier and busier than before. So happy for her : >

There is a YARDBIRD on Bridges St!!!!

There is this new place opened on Brideges St (Hong Kong) and it looks really cool!!! How cool is it? You can even tell just from their website! The decor of this place is simple and chic (the decor is a bit like the commune centre in US for ppl to gather and play some healthy sports?!)! So I guess ppl who going there should also be chic?! It only opens at 6pm daily till late, and it takes no booking. As per the name hinted, it only serves chicken!
Everytime I go, I'll pick the bar table. It's cozy (hmmm...actually the whole place is cozy) and I feel a friendly vibe going around!!! Ppl there are lovely I have to say. I have ordered a glass of their house cocktail...it looks really "naive" but ended up it hit me real bad :P
Corn ball is also another surprise! Try it! Try it!!! You'll love it!!!
The fusion of Korean ricecake with Japanese way of cooking is one of my favorite there!!! The saltiness and sweetie taste match really well!!! 33 Bridges Street, Central, Hong Kong. http://yardbirdrestaurant.com/

The Lost Afternoon Tea Paradise

Antique Pasterrie had been disappeared for awhile from Lyndhurst Terrance and all of a sudden it has popped-up again! Walking down from Hollywood Road towards Gough Street, along this Mei Lun Street you'll find this afternoon tea paradise standing at your right hand side!
The new TEA ROOM...French style, cozy and comfortable like someone's living room.
Wide range of tea samples by this French brand "Theodor" for you to "test out". (FYI, they do serve "VITTORIA Coffee" for the tea set if you don't have much interest on tea)
Lately I have fallen in love with Indian tea, so any tea with a hint of this will attracted me. So this time I try the Chocolate chip chai...a hint of Indian and a hint of chocolate!
This is the tea card you'll need to purchase online before able to reserve a table at the tea room.
We have picked their signature hightea set, which includes the savory snacks and some sweets, and then tea or coffee. Really impressed with the spinach roll and the sausages roll. They have 2 sections for tea, we went for the 3pm-5:30pm and they'll close the tea room at 5:30pm sharp, so seize the chance to enjoy the moment with friends and the food. G/F, Shop C, 2 Mee Lun Street, Central. (852) 2542-3960. For online shopping for Tea Card, please go to http://www.maisondedesign.com/

My Lovely New Cooking Utensil

I been wanted to get a new cooking pot to make tea at home, those with hand-making feel is my top priority as I like those mark all around the body of it. Out of my surprise I saw this when I passed by Shanghai Street! Almost 80% alike the one I want! Just that it's not in copper color (I know there is one and only one place in HK which still making the copper ones, but they don't make it in rounded shape like this one :P). What a happy shopping (and it's only hk$155 where a copper one is hk$900 and needa wait for a month, keekeekeee)!!! :D

Today just a little bit too cold & wet in HK!!!

Weather has been ups and downs recently, last week I thought summer was around and today I think I have gone to London?!! It has been so cold and wet today that I would have suddenly thought of having hotpot with family!!! When I flipping through the bizcard holder, I found this place which I had been wanna go try out for long long time! From the foto you can see the pot is a bit different, it has a "chimney" sticking out!!! It's kinda a traditional pot people will use in Beijing and mainly they have mutton rather than beef for hotpot. We have ordered half Sizhuen chilli soup base and the half we have just the normal soup base. The whole set (soup base with mutton, vegetables and fishballs) is only HK$249. You can order extra if you not feeling enough. The place is just cozy with few tables, so better make appointment on a cold day. 60 Wharf Road, North Point. (852) 2571-2226.

This is just an art piece: "Art Box"

Wow!! Am amazed by the collections on the wall and I thought this gal is a crazy collector on miniature car models~!!! After further exploration, I realized that this is actually an art piece handmade by a French artist and it's called "Art Box"! The artist will have to sit down there for 1.5 months and make every single bit of tiny little things by his own hand. You can custom made your "dream" by choosing the model of car, yr own number plate, also material for the box. This is definitely an ideal gift for all female when they have run out of idea of what to get for their beloved another half. There are 3 difference sizes available. Finished products will then be shipped over from Paris with certificate.
See this dirty piece of cloth hanging out from the window? This is just too cute!!! The artist is real thoughtful.
Close up of the "garage", I have a feeling that I have walked into a real garage! They look so real but imagine they are actually just tiny like 1cm long for a screw driver!!! I appreciate the time and effort he been devoting to his job!!! And I think French people really appreciate all kind of handmade things. Since every piece is unique, this is actually more valuable than a factory made item. If you would like to order one for your beloved ones, pls contact the HK distributor at (852) 2540-6868 for a preview of the Art Box at the showroom of Hong Kong distributor :)
